Outings

We run occasional outings to places of general interest, generally by coach and with some form of refreshments available at the visit location. Costs vary but are priced to cover just transport and entrance fees, generally in the region of £26-32 per head, no profit is made. For more information and booking, contact: Sue Losson on: 01483 415234 or outings@milford-u3a.org.uk

Dates and locations of future outings to be advised.

Some of our previous outings:

Bletchley Park – Home of the Codebreakers

There is so much information to read and films to watch that it is not possible to take it all in on one visit,
but you get a good idea of just how difficult and vital their work was. It is quite amazing that they were
able to keep the whole operation secret when up to 9,000 people were working there at one stage and
being billeted all around the village. Despite the importance of their work, it was not recognised in the
way that it was with medals for those in the field, as it could not be talked about.

St Mary’ Church & Gardens & English Martyrs Church

St. Mary’ Church & Gardens is a historic Pilgrim Inn c1450. The gardens cover 5 acres and include a rose garden, Terracotta garden, English Poetry Garden & Landscape Water Garden. We will have a private tour of the house which I can highly recommend. Refreshments available £3.00 – 5.00

After lunch at Haskins Garden Centre Roundhouse, we visit the English Martyrs Church to see a 2/3 scale copy of the Sistine Chapel Ceiling, the only known copy in the world

The price depends on the number of people, but I expect to be able to keep it to £30.00

Snowdrops at Welford Park, near Lambourn.

You only need to stroll around the beech wood at Welford Park taking in the spectacular carpet, and Breathing the delicate scent, to know this natural phenomenon is very special.

There is a marquee serving hot drinks, homemade cakes, homemade soup and a selection of light
lunches. There is also a shepherd’s hut on the front lawn serving hot drinks.
