A lettter from John Wariner about the Virtual U3A

I am writing to see if you would be interested in volunteering to participate in a pilot project for a Virtual U3A (vU3A). Have a look at the VIrtual Web Site http://vu3a.org to read a little about it (bearing in mind that this website is very much under development).

What would you be volunteering to do?

To sign up for the vU3A and help us test out the enrolment procedures. You will not be asked for any payment
To join a small group of other volunteers working collaboratively on a specific project, actively indulging in a spot of research and writing
Helping to test out certain features of the vU3A environment, including such things as a chat room and a forum
Providing us with feedback and evaluation both during the pilot and at the end of it

We need you to have

A broadband connection (ideally)
Audio and video (speakers, webcam, that kind of thing, though not essential)
Reasonably good computing skills (Do you use the Internet? Do you email? Do you word process?)
Availability over a period of 6-8 weeks of the order of a few hours per week

If you feel you'd like to be part of this experimental phase, please email me, providing the following details:

Full name
Postal address
Email address
Telephone number
Name of your U3A (if you are a member of one)
Any other IDs (such as Skype, Messenger, etc.)

I will keep in touch with you by email and let you know when the ball is likely to start rolling. We hope that the pilot will commence fairly early in the New Year.

Best wishes
